Clare Wimperis – “As a multi media artist, I specialise in environmentally led projects, with a particular interest in biodiversity. I have recently completeted a collection entitled Icon, focussing moths and insects and reflecting the fragility and decline of these species. At present I’m working on a project about ash trees, due to the imminent threat of ash dieback. I’m also working on a exhibition about over-fishing of the seas.
I choose the medium that gives me the quality that I need including inks, watercolour, oils, gold leaf, pencil and acrylics.”
Sarah Brown – Sarah specialised in Fine Art Painting at the West Wales School of the Arts, where she was awarded a First Class Honours Degree and named student of the year. Since graduating Sarah Jane Brown’s career as a full time professional artist continues to gain momentum and recognition, she has exhibited widely and her work is now attracting collectors throughout the UK and overseas.
Her expressive style combines a variety of techniques; staining and glazing in thin layers, building up to often very thick and textured impasto. Conceptually her paintings are an outpouring of personal feeling rather than representations of actual ‘views’. Most of the works remain recognisable as landscapes, but are open to interpretation. Many offer a duality, using the landscape metaphorically to describe thoughts and emotions.
Tony Kitchell – Tony is from St.Davids, Pembrokeshire in West Wales, where he works as a professional artist amidst the stunning coastal scenery. For more than ten years Tony has been visiting Madeira during the winter months, the mild, clear weather being ideal for landscape painting on location. His paintings are energetic, spontaneous and charged with vibrant colour, anchored by sharp observation and strong drawing.
Deb Withey – Deborah Withey works both as illustrator and designer, collage artist and printmaker, teacher and art director. Deb worked in the American publishing industry for a number of award-winning years and loved it. Now she has retransferred that creative love into making pieces that capture the history, the mystery the landscape, the people and the spirit of wales. Her work appears in publications and private collections throughout the world.
Alternatively it can just be an opportunity for a group or individuals to paint/draw/find inspiration from the water.
- This is an exclusive trip and we limit the numbers to 10 (including artist) to allow more room for equipment, and ensuring everyone has enough room to move around the boat and have a good view.
- We will always do our best to keep you and your equipment dry but it cannot be guaranteed so please ensure you have some form of waterproof bag for your sketch book.
- All personal effects are carried at your own risk.
- We will tend to run these trips in the morning and evening when the light is often better for painting.
