As the seasons turn and the spring flowers are long gone, they are replaced by swathes of glorious purple as the heather on Ramsey starts to blossom. The scent of the heather is so strong that the bumble bees from the mainland will cross the Sound to feed on it. Occasionally even from the sea, on a warm sunny day, a waft of honey scented air will hit you as you go round the island.
