Even though we are not on the water at the moment, you might still see some of these little moulters around if you are walking the cliffs. They are hugely entertains to watch and there are always a few late pups born on November.

The Autumn light out on the water today was glorious. All the wildlife came out to play with lovely sightings of chough, peregrine and porpoise as well as lots of seals! And a dramatic Atlantic swell courtesy of Hurricane Nicole from the other side of the Pond! The sea has a totally different feel to it in Autumn, it somehow carries a suggestion of the power of the winter storms to come!

It is always so nice to have a settled spell in autumn and this year has definitely not disappointed. So whilst we have had a short break off the water in the post summer lull we will be back in full swing for half term, weather permitting! There is still plenty about offshore so, in addition to the attraction of the obligatory seal pups at this time of year, we will be hoping to catch up with some of these beauties as well!

Despite a bit of rain, we had some lovely views of the seals out round Ramsey today. Thanks to Huw James for the pictures. One of the seal’s we saw today appeared to be blind with what looked like cataracts on both eyes – It is not unheard of for blind seal to survive as they use their super sensitive whiskers to hunt their prey often more than their eyesight.

Well a beautiful evening to end a blustery day. We managed to sneak in a trip around Ramsey yesterday morning before it got too windy, no such luck today! Looks like a day for catching up on office jobs, even Belle the dog doesn’t fancy going out this morning.
