This large glass bowl illustrates the seaside using low relief and colours to accentuate the motion of the water ripples on the beach and create pebbles on the beach with the sea in turquoise and blue, the foam coming onto the beach and the sand with the shadows of the ripple effect on the back. The relief was applied to the underside of the bowl leaving the top side smooth.
The Paradise Bowl can be used as a home decor feature and/or fruit bowl and/or a bird bath in the garden.
Dimensions: 29cm and 7cm deep | 11 1/2″ and 2 3/4″deep
The top of the bowl is smooth and the underside is textured.
After completing his degree in Glass in 2002, Matthew worked for a large glass design company in London before setting up his own business in 2012. Matthew designs and makes everything in his studio in Dorset, on the south coast of the UK, near the Jurassic Coast. All the moulds are handcarved, he applies the colours manually and the glass is slumped over the mould in a kiln at temperatures over 800C and annealed to ensure strength and durability.
