“So fine was the morning except for a streak of wind here and there that the sea and sky looked all one fabric, as if sails were stuck high up in the sky, or the clouds had dropped down into the sea.” ― Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse Smalls Lighthouse, 06/07/16

23rd to 31st July is #NationalWhaleAndDolphinWeek (#NWDW). To celebrate, we are collaborating with Sea Watch and photographer Janet Baxter for a dedicated 3 hour cetacean photography trip. This trip will provide a unique opportunity to spend time observing and photographing cetaceans. We will be joined by a Sea Watch researcher who will be doing data collection and be on hand to give you an in depth insight into the world of these enigmatic creatures. This trip is specially designed with the needs of photographers and wildlife enthusiasts in mind and will include informal tuition from professional photgrapher Janet Baxter. Numbers are limited to 8 paying passengers so early booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Price £75 per person The trip will be run during the week of the 23rd July but due to its weather dependent nature we will confirm the day and time closer to the time to avoid disappointment.

Repost from Hannah (@slightly_salty_ ) About 2 years ago I saw this rissos dolphin close to the Smalls lighthouse, West Wales. Yesterday I saw it (not sure on gender yet) again, off the South Bishop lighthouse this time, so many feels. Lovely to catch up with such a majestic, distinctive creature again, hope to be seeing more of it. I’ve always had a little bit of a thing for rissos. And beluga. And narwhal. As the future of our country is currently so uncertain, the loss of the European Union could mean big changes to the marine environment in our country, with the loss of our Special Areas of Conservation, it’s more important than ever that we raise awareness of marine issues and strive to create cleaner, safer seas for these cetaceans. @seawatchfoundation.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of working with Visit Wales, filming porpoise in Ramsey Sound and seals at the island. Ffion was being all famous and managed not to get all her chins out on camera (we really are the most un-photogenic crew on Atlantic Storm)!
